Prevent misuse of ambulances for non-emergency purposes

Sir,

I write to draw attention to a matter of concern regarding the misuse of donated ambulances by certain hospitals and clinics. Despite the goodwill gesture of service organisations and philanthropists who generously donate new ambulances to save the lives of patients, some healthcare institutions are misusing these invaluable resources for purposes other than their intended use.

Several hospitals and clinics are employing these donated ambulances to transport their staff or as a means of transportation for procuring purchased items. This unfortunate practice not only undermines the purpose for which these ambulances were donated but also compromises the availability of emergency medical services for those in need.

I appeal to the management of hospitals and clinics to prioritise the proper utilisation of donated ambulances and to ensure that these vehicles are dedicated exclusively to emergency medical services.
