Primary Schools likely to reopen from Oct.16, says Minister

Udupi: Even as children and parents eagerly await Government’s decision on re-opening of Primary Schools, Minister for Primary and Secondary Education B.C. Nagesh said that classes from 1 to 5 are most likely to reopen from Oct.16.

Speaking to presspersons at Udupi on Friday, he said that COVID test positivity rate is fast declining in State and experts have said that Schools can be reopened with SOPs. Pointing out that the Government is seriously thinking of re-opening Primary Schools from Oct.16 soon after the conclusion of Dasara festivities, he said mid-day meal for students too will commence.

Noting that the CM will soon convene a Task Force meeting  during which the exact date of re-opening is expected to be announced, Nagesh clarified that School attendance has not been made mandatory yet and will not be made so in near future too.  Classes will be held in both online and offline mode, he added.
