Mysore/Mysuru: In terms of academic quality, private Varsities are performing better than their public counterparts, opined former University of Mysore (UoM) Vice-Chancellor Prof. K.S. Rangappa.
He was speaking at the farewell function of Prof. N.B. Ramachandra of Genetics and Genomics Department, UoM, at Rani Bahadur auditorium here on Saturday.
“Lecturers working for private institutions and Universities are getting very less salary but are providing much better quality education. If this trend continues, this might negatively impact public sector Universities. In recent years, private Universities are focussing more and more on academic quality, but we cannot say the same for Universities run by the Government,” he said.
UoM Vice-Chancellor Prof. G. Hemantha Kumar, Visiting Professor H.A. Ranganath, Prof. Mewa Singh, Prof. S.N. Hegde, Prof. Sutturu Malini, Prof. Niranjan, Prof. Natesh and Prof. Umesh were present during the occasion.
