Mysore/Mysuru: In order to encourage young talents in chess, Rotary Midtown Academy had organised Chessmate 2022-23 Inter-School Chess Tournament recently.
National chess player VPS Dharshan, along with Chess Master Vijendra and Principal Dr. Ramya Urs, inaugurated the contest by lighting the lamp.
Chess Master Vijendra supervised the whole event. Around 65 participants from 19 schools and various coaching centres participated in the contest.
P. Karthik of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (BVB) School won first place and cash award of Rs. 1,500. Atishay Iyengar of Mysore West Lions Sevaniketan School bagged second place with Rs. 1,000 cash prize and N. Reethu of KPS MG Koppal School took third place and cash award of Rs. 750 with trophy and certificates.
Ten consolation prizes were awarded — M. Hithashree and S. Nishanth, St. Thomas Central School, J. Adinjith, Pranav and S. Thanushree of Sree Cauvery School, B.S. Santhosh of Excel Public School, M.S. Pragathi of Baden Powel School, B.M. Aman Kumar of Shree Vidyanikethan, Hruthik of Dr. Ambedkar Residential School, Aprameyan of Hari Vidyalaya.
