Grand Master (GM) M.S. Thejkumar inaugurated the State-level Under-19 Rapid Chess Tournament, organised by Sadvidya Educational Institutions (SEI) as part of its Shathotara Suvarna Rajatha Mahothsava, at Sadvidya Semi-residential PU College, Vijayanagar 2nd Stage, in city yesterday.
Around 416 players from various School, Colleges and Chess Academies took part in the Tournament. Following is the list of winners:
M. Shivanth – 1st prize, Shreyas K. Patil (SVEI) – 2nd, Pritam S. Rao (Excel Public School) – 3rd, K.M. Prajwal (KCA) – 4th, Vihan Venugopal (St. Joseph’s) – 5th, Eshwar Veerappa Ayyappa (Amrita Vidyalaya) – 6th, R. Ashwath Ram (Elite) – 7th, H.M. Akash (Sakaleshpur) – 8th, Pande Vedanshi (Christ Junior College) – 9th and P. Dhanyasri (Kadamaba Chess Academy) – 10th.
Supriya of Creativity Chess Academy won the prize in the Specially Disabled Category, P. Tejas won the Best Sadvidya Award. St. Joseph’s Central School was declared as ‘The Best School.’ Mandya Chess Academy and Kadamba Chess Academy of Hassan bagged ‘The Best Academy Award.’
SEI Joint Secretary Prof. K.R. Hiriyanna, Sadvidya Composite PU College Principal Y.R. Ramesh, High School Head Master Ramachandra Bhat and SEI Secretary Prof. MSK Narahari Babu distributed cash prizes to the winners.
Administrative Board Members Nalini Chandra and R.S. Prasanna, Sadvidya Semi-residential PU College Principal Dr. G.R. Kavitha, teaching and non-teaching staff were present on the occasion.
