Srirangapatna: Activists from pro-Hindu organisations staged a human chain protest in Srirangapatna on Friday, condemning the violence that erupted during the Ganesha idol procession in Nagamangala.
The protest took place at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Circle near the Taluk Office, where activists expressed their outrage at the miscreants responsible for the disturbance.
They alleged that youths from a particular community raised provocative slogans during the Ganesha procession and escalated the situation by throwing petrol bombs, brandishing swords, and setting shops on fire.
The protesters also criticised the Government’s response, particularly the arrest of 52 Hindu youths, claiming the actions unfairly targeted their community. They demanded compensation for the shop owners affected by the arson and called for the immediate release of the detained youths.
“If the Government continues this biased approach, we will be forced to revolt and stage larger protests in the district,” the activists warned. BJP leader Belagola Suneel, Hindu Jagaran Vedike’s Chandan, and other leaders from various pro-Hindu organisations participated in the demonstration.
