Procession rehearsal on Nov. 20

Mysuru: A full-fledged rehearsal of the procession, to be taken out as part of 83rd Akhila Bharatha Kannada Sahitya Sammelana, will be held at the Palace premises here on Nov.20 at 9 am.

This was disclosed by Deputy Commissioner D. Randeep during a meeting held on Tuesday at his office to review the preparations for the Sammelana.

Randeep said that it was planned to mobilise about 2,500 college students for the rehearsal dressed in ethnic style and make a formation to read ‘Sri Ramayana Darshanam-50,’ the poetic work of Rashtrakavi Kuvempu which got him the Jnanpith award 50 years ago. He added that if not Ramayana Darshanam-50, alternative on cards was the formation ‘83rd Akhila Bharatha Kannada Sahitya Sammelana’ whichever looks appealing and thought-provoking.

He said that the authorities of various colleges in city have been apprised about the proposal and have been requested to send students.

He added that over 2,000 volunteers would be needed during the Sammelana and ruling out utilisation of degree students for the job, he suggested that teachers could be utilised instead.

He further said that a briefing session for volunteers, NSS and NCC Officers and Cadets would be organised on Nov. 20 at 11 am at Kalamandira regarding the work to be carried out in two shifts. He asked officials to provide ID cards to volunteers.
