Mysore/Mysuru: Prof. K. Byrappa, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Adichunchanagiri University, has been named among the top 2 percent scientists in the world as per a subject-wise analysis conducted by the team of scientists from Stanford University, USA.
Prof. Byrappa obtained his M.Sc, degree in Geology from the University of Mysore with First Rank and Gold Medal, then Ph.D. from Russia’s Moscow State University. He has served in several international Universities as Visiting Professor.
As per the Stanford University’s study, Prof. Byrappa has been ranked 1,945 among the world’s top scientists with 260 papers in Materials Science. He has the most highly cited Publications to his credit.
After completing his higher education abroad, he returned to India and served the University of Mysore for 31 years in various capacities and brought about Rs. 80 crore worth of Projects to the University.
Then Prof. Byrappa served the Mangalore University as Vice-Chancellor for four years and currently serving as the Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Adichunchanagiri University, B.G. Nagara, Mandya District. At Adichunchanagiri University, he was instrumental in establishing a world class research lab for Trans-disciplinary research.
Prof. Byrappa has contributed extensively in the field of Hydrothermal Processing of Advanced Materials including Bioconjugated New Anti-Cancer Agents and their Targeted Delivery Systems. In recognition of his contribution to the field of Materials Science, Prime Minister Narendra Modi awarded Prof. Byrappa with a Gold Medal during the 104th Indian Science Congress held at Tirupathi in 2017.
