Mysuru: Former Vice-Chancellor of Mysore University and KSOU Prof. K.S. Rangappa, who lost from Chamaraja Assembly Constituency contesting as JD(S) candidate in last month’s Assembly polls, is likely to be appointed as Adviser to Higher Education Department.
With the JD(S) forming the Government in coalition with the Congress, the JD(S) is said to be keen on giving a responsible position to Prof. Rangappa considering his decades of academic experience.
Prof. Rangappa, who is a close relative of JD(S) Supremo H.D. Deve Gowda, is likely to be given a responsible position in the Higher Education Department, which portfolio CM Kumaraswamy is likely to retain as Chamundeshwari MLA G.T. Devegowda has declined to accept the portfolio.
Reacting to rumours about his likely appointment, Prof. Rangappa said that these were just speculations. Maintaining that he had no information about the possibility of appointing him as Higher Education Department Adviser, Prof. Rangappa said that when the Higher Education Minister is yet to be appointed, there was no question of him being appointed as Adviser now.
