Prof. S.R. Niranjana selected for Dr. K.C. Mehta Memorial Award

Mysore/Mysuru: Prof. S.R. Niranjana, former Vice-Chancellor, Gulbarga University; Professor and Chairman of Biotechnology, University of Mysore, has been selected for the prestigious “Dr. K. C. Mehta Memorial Award” by The National Academy of Agricultural Sciences (NAAS), New Delhi, for the Biennium 2019-2020 for his outstanding contributions in Plant Protection. 

The Award consists of a citation and a silver plaque. It will be presented at the Inaugural Session of the XV Agricultural Science Congress at Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. 

Prof. Niranjana is a recipient of several awards. He is working on various aspects of Plant protection, Molecular Plant Pathology, Seed Pathology, Biological Control and Host-pathogen interaction for agriculture and sustainable development with his team of Research Scholars and Post-Doctoral Fellows from last three decades. 

Prof. Niranjana is involved in quality food production and protection in the major food crops such as cereals, vegetables, oil seeds and food crops. He is also instrumental in establishing the Asian Seed Health Centre by transferring the Seed Pathology Courses from Danish Government Institute of Seed Pathology (DGISP), Denmark to Department of Studies in Applied Botany, University of Mysore.
