Mysuru: K.G. Shashikumar was anointed as the new successor for Kanakapura Sridegula Mutt in Ramanagar district at a function held at Suttur Mutt premises in city yesterday by Mutt’s senior Seer Dr. Sri Mummadi Nirvana Swamiji.
Suttur Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji, Sri Chidananda Swamiji of Hosamutt and other Seers graced the occasion.
Shashikumar is the son of S. Komalamba and K.S. Gowrishankarswamy of Kulagana village in Chamarajanagar district. He holds a MBA degree and was a Professor at JSS College on Ooty Road in Mysuru.
Speaking on the occasion, former Minister V. Somanna recalled that he too was a student of Sridegula Mutt which was providing education and food for thousands of students.
Sridegula Mutt has a history of seven centuries which was established by Sri Adi Nirvana Swamiji.
The Mutt has 45 educational institutions and about 2,000 students are provided shelter at the Mutt.
