Mysuru: “Country will develop if education and teachers are given priority. Even before civilisations started in many parts of the world, civilisation in India had grown widely,” opined Adichunchanagiri Seer Sri Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji.
He was speaking at a function organised by Prof. Y.S. Siddegowda Felicitation Committee and Department of Studies in Social Work, University of Mysore (UoM) to felicitate Prof. Y.S. Siddegowda on the occasion of his superannuation at Senate Bhavan, Manasagangothri campus, yesterday. Prof. Siddegowda is currently the Vice-Chancellor of Tumkur University.
Suttur Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji said “studying in Mysore University and working here is a privilege. Mysore University has created its own mark in the world map. Siddegowda is a good teacher as well as an able administrator,” he said.
A commemorative book ‘Savyasaachi’ on Prof. Y.S. Siddegowda edited by Dr. B. Jagadish and Dr. K.G. Parashurama was released on the occasion. National Organising Secretary of Bharatiya Shikshan Mandal, New Delhi, Mukul Kanitkar, UoM VC Prof. G. Hemantha Kumar, Prof. Bhashyam Swamiji, former KSOU VC Dr. N.S. Ramegowda, ex-MLA Vasu and others were present.
