Prominence given to English in Mysuru Fest logo: Kannada and Culture ex-Dy. Director

Mysore/Mysuru: Criticising the Mysuru District Administration and Tourism Department for neglecting Kannada and violating the State Government’s norms concerning Kannada language in the Mysuru Fest logo, Akhila Bharatha Sharana Sahitya Parishat, Mysuru City Unit President M.G. Sadanandaiah alleged that prominence had been given to English language in the logo.

He was speaking after releasing  Kannada digit new year calendar brought out by District Kannada Sahitya Parishat at Patrakarthara Bhavan here yesterday.

Urging the Tourism Department to reconsider the logo design, Sadanandaiah said that about 70 percent of the logo space has been given to English language,  while Kannada has been restricted to 30 percent. The officials should have instructed the designers regarding the issue, he added.

Sadanandaiah, who is also the former Deputy Director of Kannada and Culture Department, took exception to the name boards installed in various localities.

Noting that the signboards of house numbers have vanished and given way to the names of politicians, he said that the MCC and MUDA must look into the matter and re-install the Kannada directional boards in residential areas.

Kannada Sahitya Parishat District President Maddikere Gopal, former President M. Chandrashekar, G. Prakash, Kempanna, Ganesh Niluvagilu, Dr. T. Thyagaraj and others  were present at the calendar release event.
