Mysore/Mysuru: Welcoming the Government’s decision to conduct SSLC exam after COVID comes under control, JD(S) MLC Marithibbegowda, who represents South Teachers Constituency in the Legislative Council, however, termed the promotion of all II PU students by according grades as ‘unscientific.’
In a press release, Marithibbegowda urged the Government to reconsider its decision on promotion of all II PU students without exam.
Maintaining that though many letters have been written to the Primary and Secondary Education Minister Suresh Kumar asking him to consult MLCs representing Teacher Constituencies and educational experts before taking any decision, he alleged that the Minister has taken a unilateral decision without bothering to consult anyone.
Arguing that the yardstick being used for grading II PU students too is not only unscientific but improper, Marithibbegowda said this illogical decision will have a negative impact on the career of students.
He lashed out at the Govt. for not announcing a COVID package for lecturers serving in unaided PU and Degree Colleges and Guest Lecturers serving in University affiliated Colleges.
The MLC also urged for COVID crisis monetary assistance of Rs. 5,000 to each lecturer just as how Primary and High School staff have got.
