Mysuru: With viral fever cases on the rise in the district, Department of Women and Child Welfare has decided to provide mosquito nets to Anganawadi Centres to protect the children from dengue.
Briefing Star of Mysore on the subject, the Department Deputy Director K. Radha said that there are over 2,860 Anganawadi Centres in the district and it is proposed to provide one mosquito net measuring 10ftx10ft to each centre and the proposal would be sent to the government. She further said that many Gram Panchayats in Hunsur and T. Narasipur have already purchased insecticide treated mosquito nets and distributed them to Anganawadi Centres in their jurisdiction. She added that the Department was planning to meet the Deputy Commissioner to prevail upon corporate houses to provide nets to the Anganawadi Centres under their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
Continuing, Radha said that a few Anganawadi Centres have fans but power supply was erratic while a few centres do not have any fan at all. Hence, she said that it was decided to provide mosquito nets to the Centres. She added that the Department had provided mats and pillows to the centres and bedsheets will be supplied by a private company which would be followed up.
