Protest march taken out against revision of pension scheme

Mysuru: Condemning the steps being taken up for revision of Central Government’s pension scheme and urging to continue the old pension system, members of Karnataka State Retired Government Employees Association took out a protest march in city yesterday.

The members, who assembled at Shikshakara Bhavan, near old KMF Milk Dairy, took out the protest march to the new DC Office in Siddarthanagar where they staged a dharna.

Pointing out that the Central Government was taking steps to revise the pension scheme which is an unscientific procedure, the protesters said that receiving pension is the right of a retired employee.

“This is not the decision of the Central Government and pension is not a donation. Hence the Centre should not revise the pension scheme,” they urged.

Money for the pension comes from the savings of the employees and hence the old pension scheme should be continued failing which the protestors warned of intensifying their protest.

Over 200 pensioners took part in the protest.
