Mysuru: Hundreds of students from different colleges of the city took part in the massive demonstration organised by the Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) at Ramaswamy Circle in city this morning in protest against the government’s move to close down Karnataka State Open University (KSOU).
The protestors urged the State government to press the UGC for renewal of recognition at the earliest.
After the protest, the ABVP launched a padayatra from Mysuru to Bengaluru with the theme ‘KSOU Ulisi, Unnata Shikshana Belesi.’
The padayatra, flagged off by former KSOU Vice-Chancellor Prof. N.S. Ramegowda, will pass through Srirangapatna, Mandya, Maddur, Channapatna, Ramanagar, Bidadi and reach Bengaluru on Oct. 13.
A massive demonstration will be staged at the Freedom Park in Bengaluru on Oct. 13, from where a rally will be taken out to Vidhana Soudha.
ABVP office-bearers Swamy Marulapura, Rajesh Gurani, Rakesh and others took part in the demonstration.
