Protest seeking continuation of College Development Committee workers

Mysuru: Karnataka State Higher Education Department College Workers Association yesterday staged a protest in front of the Office of the Joint Director, Department of the Collegiate Education seeking the continuation of College Development Committee (CDC) workers and provide benefits as per the law.

The protestors said that despite Government’s order to extend all benefits, the contractors have denied jobs to CDC workers by accepting bribes from others. Despite approaching concerned officials on several occasions, there has not been any reaction. Neither Principals nor Contractors have shown interest in following the rules to issue work on priority to CDC workers, they added.

Demanding officials to call for a meeting with Principals and Contractors to discuss the issue, the protestors sought an assurance in writing from the Head Office.

The protesters have been demanding to remove SSLC as a minimum qualification for senior CDC workers, Principals must submit the seniority list to the contractors, reject the recommendation letters given by contractors to workers who have no experience, job security,  remittance of pending Provident Fund amount, among others. Association State President Chandrashekar Meti, Muddukrishna, Ravi Indramma, Madamma and others were present.
