Protest staged against privatisation of Railway and Power sectors

Mysuru:  Activists of Railway and Power Anti-Privatisation Committee staged a protest demanding Union Government not to privatise Railway and Power sectors.

The activists along with leaders of various labour organisations assembled near Dr. B.R. Ambedkar statue in Town Hall premises recently and staged a protest.

“The Narendra Modi led Union Government is protecting the interests of big Corporate companies at the cost of common man. Its aggressive and liberal pro-capitalist policies have resulted in numerous hardships for the working class. Because of the wrong policies of the Union Government farmers are falling into debt trap and are committing suicide. Privatisation of public enterprises under pipeline schemes are being done. Despite opposition from farmers and the citizens of the country, the Government got a Bill passed in Parliament to privatise Power sector,” said the protestors.

The protestors demanded the Union Government to withdraw the amendment to the Power Bill-2022, invest public investment in the power production and control private players.

Committee Convenor  M. Appanna, Co-Convenor  Dhananjaya, Balajirao, Jayaram, Javaraiah, Sunanda, Leelavati, Hosur Kumar and others took part in the protest.
