Sir,
There is an urgent need to run local buses from City Railway Station directly to Kuvempunagar, Vivekanandanagar, Sharadadevinagar, TK Layout and other South-Western localities.
At present, commuters are forced to go to the City Bus Stand (KR Circle) to catch another bus to these destinations.
This is not only troublesome for the elderly, disabled and people carrying luggage, but also time-consuming, as they must travel back to Ramaswamy Circle — the gateway to these areas — after unnecessarily circumventing now defunct Lakshmi/Shantala Talkies once again.
While direct buses are available from the City Railway Station to far-off localities like Hinkal, Belawadi, Srirangapatna and even KRS from the adjoining petrol bunk (railway under-bridge), why not extend this facility to these South-Western areas?
If needed, a small bus bay can be created at the South-West corner of JK Grounds to facilitate easy boarding and alighting for commuters.
With train frequency having improved significantly now, such an initiative would greatly benefit the travelling public.
I personally appeal to KSRTC and the civic authorities to give this matter serious consideration.
