Periyapatna: Calling upon rural women to take up self-employment, Bylakuppe Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) M. Mahesh has said that doing so, would help them to join the mainstream society.
He was addressing members of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Mahila Sangha, who were on a study tour, at Bylakuppe Police Station premises recently.
Pointing out that it was important for women to be aware of the schemes and programmes for women, the PSI said that awareness on Law should be equally important for women, especially in the backdrop of rising crimes against women and Tribals.
Noting that rural women should not restrict themselves to domestic chores, Mahesh emphasised on the need for women to get educated, as it would largely help them in leading a self-reliant life. Pointing out that nowadays women have come to the forefront in pressing for liquor ban, he said that all women groups should come in support of liquor ban.
Jnanavika officer Revathi, Roopa, Police personnel Somashekar, Nandeesh and others were present.
