Mysuru: Internationally acclaimed Sarod maestro Pandit Rajeev Taranath was presented the 2019 ‘Padma Shri’ award here yesterday.
President Ram Nath Kovind had conferred the 2019 Padma awards on all the distinguished personalities on Mar.16 at New Delhi. However, due to some reasons Pandit Taranath was not able to be present at the award function.
In the light of this, the ‘Padma Shri’ award was presented to Panditji at his residence in Saraswathipuram yesterday by the District Administration.
Additional Deputy Commissioner G. Anuradha, Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer K. Jyothi and DC Office Protocol Tahsildar S. N. Nurgund honoured the Sarod maestro and presented the coveted award.
