Mysuru: A day after being conferred the prestigious Nadoja Award by Hampi Kannada University, Sarod Maestro Pandit Rajiv Taranath visited Suttur Mutt in city on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Pt. Rajiv Taranath said that it was important that Mutts and Gurukulas concentrated on patronising expressive forms of art such as music.
Highlighting that dedication, determination and concentration hold key to learning music, he regretted that Indians were inferior to Westerners when it came to learning the art of music.
Suttur Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji who spoke after felicitating the Sarod Maestro, said that it was a matter of delight that Pt. Taranath has been propagating music across the globe even at the age of 84. The Seer wished that the renowned musician to carry on with his excellent life and work for more years to come.
