Bengaluru – The PUC lecturers from Science and Commerce streams will turn students this summer to hone their skills in their respective subjects at the 15-day intense training camp organised by the Department of Pre-University Education (DPUE). However, they will get earned leave as the training will be conducted from May 5 to 20.
Over 12,000 PU lecturers from across the State will attend the training. The DPUE has roped in professors from Indian Institute of Science (IISc.) and other reputed retired professors from the State to hold the sessions.
C Shikha, DPUE Director, said the Department was introducing NCERT syllabus for three Commerce subjects – Business Studies, Accountancy and Economics – for I PU from this academic year. The translation work for these textbooks have been completed and the training programme is aimed at equipping the Commerce lecturers to teach the new syllabus.
The NCERT syllabus is already in force for Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology in the Science stream. However, lecturers from the stream have also been made part of the training programme to brush up their knowledge and teaching skills, Shikha added.
