Delay in shifting accident victims
Mandya: The delay in shifting the accident victims from one hospital to another due to the absence of the ambulance driver has irked the public, who later attempted to damage the ambulance resulting in the Police resorting to lathi charge at Maddur General Hospital yesterday.
Yesterday, an accident involving two bikes occurred near the Shivapura over bridge near Maddur resulting in the death of Surya (18) and two others — 30-year-old Dasa and 19-years-old Yoga — of Deshahalli village sustaining serious injuries.
The public rushed the injured to Maddur General Hospital, where the two injured were provided first-aid and the doctors suggested the public to shift them to MIMS Hospital for further treatment.
When the public went near the ambulance station at the hospital, they did not find the driver there. This resulted in the relatives of the injured and the public expressing anger as time was running out and they attempted to damage the ambulance. The Police had to resort to lathi-charge to disperse the angry crowd.
Meanwhile, the ambulance driver, who arrived later, shifted the injured to MIMS Hospital. A case has been registered at Maddur Police Station.
