Public-spirited organisations must strictly conform to lockdown norms

Sir,

It is heart-warming to see various voluntary social organisations and Government representatives distributing safety kits, food, ration and essential commodity kits to COVID warriors and others who desperately need them in this time of crisis.

However, it was appalling to see that except in a few cases, social distancing was completely ignored and photo-ops seemed to take precedence over the all-important safety norm of keeping a minimum distance of 2-metre between persons when a lockdown is on.

The photographs send a wrong signal to lay persons and convey a laidback approach by dignitaries who should know better. We the citizens of Mysuru applaud the public-spiritedness of the organisations, but expect them to strictly conform to lockdown norms while at it.
