Punching dialogues, Quad bike stunts mark Makkala and Chinnara Dasara

Minister Tanveer Sait released a pigeon to inaugurate Makkala Dasara at Jaganmohan Palace here this morning.

Mysuru: Punching dialogues by children of ‘Drama Juniors’ TV show fame and quad bike stunts by a seven-year-old girl were major attractions during the inauguration of Makkala and Chinnara Dasara in city this morning.

Speaking after inaugurating the Makkala Dasara at Jaganmohan Palace auditorium in which more than 500 children are taking part, Primary and Secondary Education Minister Tanveer Sait said that children have the responsibility of uniting communities.

He further said that Dasara festival was not limited to one particular community but it is the festival of everyone and expressed happiness that the children of mahouts and kavadis, who are accompanying the Dasara elephants, will be performing a drama and will render a group song at the Makkala Dasara.

Earlier, Mahendra, Arishi, Ishwarya and Amith of ‘Drama Juniors’ fame entertained the audience with their dialogues while Vaishnavi of ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Junior’ rendered song. Child artiste Disha was present. A Science Expo was also held on the occasion.

Mayor M.J. Ravikumar, Corporator K.V. Mallesh and other dignitaries were present.

Chinnara Dasara, for children in the age group between three and six years was inaugurated by Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights President Dr. Krupa Amar Alva at J.K. Grounds near City Railway Station this morning.

The main attraction during the inauguration was the quad bike stunts by seven-year-old girl Risha Thaskin, a 2nd Standard student of St. Joseph’s School, Bannimantap. Children dressed as Kittur Rani Chennamma, Onake Obavva, Akkamahadevi, Sangolli Rayanna, Swami Vivekananda, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru and others also attracted the visitors.

Speaking after inaugurating Chinnara Dasara, Dr. Krupa Amar Alva said that the hidden talents of children should be identified and encouraged. She called upon the parents not to violate Child Rights but instead protect them.

More than 250 children from rural places such as Bilikere, Nanjangud, K.R. Nagar, Periyapatna, T. Narsipur and other rural places are taking part in Chinnara Dasara. Woman and Child Welfare Deputy Director K. Radha and other dignitaries were present.
