Mysuru: City’s well-known Agri-scientist and farmers’ friend, Dr. Vasanth Kumar Thimakapura is selected for ‘Purnachandra Tejasvi Award’ founded by Anikethana Kannada Balaga, Bengaluru.
Dr. Thimakapura, known as plant doctor, is ably and un-selfishly rendering yeoman service from the past two decades to the farming community through his innovative research, products and extension.
Anikethana Kannada Balaga, an NGO with the sole intention of honouring the distinguished personalities with loyalty, dedication, honesty towards the upliftment of the common people of society, has founded the award in the name of Purnachandra Tejasvi, a well-known poet who followed his father’s (Rashtrakavi Kuvempu) legacy.
The award carries Rs.25,000 cash prize and a citation. The award ceremony will be held tomorrow (Sept. 21) at Bengaluru in the presence of Sri Nanjavadhuta Mahaswamiji of Spatikapurimahasamsthana, Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy, Kannada Sahitya Parishath President Dr. Manu Baligar and Anikethana Kannada Balaga President Mayanna.
