Mysuru: The “Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana” (KVPY) is a National programme started in 1999 by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. The objective of the programme is to identify students with talent and aptitude for research; help them realise their academic potential; encourage them to take up research careers in Science, and ensure the growth of the best scientific minds for research and development in the country.
The Department of Science and Technology, the nodal agency of the programme to the Indian Institute of Science (IISc.), Bangalore, set up a Management Committee and a National Advisory Committee (NAC) for overseeing its implementation.
Three students of SBRR Mahajana PU College, Jayalakshmipuram — N. Abhay (PCMB), Nisarg V. Jagatap (PCMB) and K. Punith (PCMC) — passed the online examination and interviews, qualified for scholarship from KVPY.
The selected students can continue their education in the basic Science stream and they will be awarded scholarship from Rs. 80,000 to Rs. 1,12,000 per annum. The selected students are also qualified to study in the prestigious educational institutes such as: Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, Indian Research Institute of Science Education and Research and many more.
