Mysuru -The Com-munity Medicine Department of JSS Medical College had organised a programme on Apr.7 on the occasion of World Health Day-2017 with the theme “Depression: Let’s Talk.”
In the morning session, there was a quiz competition for MBBS students and the winners were selected for zonal-level of Indian Association of Preventive Medicine (IAPSM) quiz.
This was followed by a poster competition on the theme ‘Depression’ which was judged by Dr. Mansoor Ahmed, Professor, Department of Community Medicine, MMC&RI and Dr. Hugara Siddalingappa, Assistant Professor of Mandya Medical College.
The afternoon session was inaugurated by Dr. B. Manjunatha, Registrar, JSS University. Dr. M.R. Narayanamurthy, HoD of Community Medicine, briefed about World Health Day theme and its importance.
Dr. H. Basavanagowdappa, Principal, spoke on how depression affects students and other people. He also stressed that depression is more common than heart diseases.
Dr. Mudassir Azeez Khan, Professor and Head, Department of Community Medicine, MMC&RI; Dr. M. Kishor, Associate Professor, Department of Psychiatry, JSS Medical College; Dr. B.M. Balaraj, Vice-Principal and Dr. N.C. Ashok, Professor, Department of Community Medicine were present. Dr. D. Sunil Kumar, Assistant Professor, proposed a vote of thanks.
