Mysore/Mysuru: As part of its 98th music concert, RAAGA Music Academy will present a grand Karnatak vocal recital by Vidu. Girija Ravishankar at Bidaram Krishnappa’s Prasanna Seetharama Mandira on Narayana Shastry Road here on June 15 (Saturday) at 6 pm.
She will be accompanied by Vid. Amogh Nadadur on violin, Vid. Pavan Madhav Masur on mridanga and Vid. Srinidhi R. Koundinya on ghata.
Profile: Vidu. Girija Ravishankar was initiated into Karnatak classical music by her mother Vidu. Sharada Ravishankar at the age of three. She continued her training with renowned musician Vidu. Dr. R.N. Sreelatha and for the past sixteen years, she has been under the tutelage of Padma Shri awardee, Sangeetha Kala Acharya, Vid. Rudrapatnam N. Thyagarajan (elder of the illustrious Rudrapatnam Brothers). She has performed in several Sabhas in India, the US, Germany and Switzerland including collaborations with artistes of other genres such as Hindustani classical, Jazz and Arabic music.
For her prowess in music, she has been the recipient of ‘Yuva Pratibha Puraskara’ from the Government of Karnataka, ‘Yuvasiri’ from Kalapratishtana of Gadag, ‘Nadasaraswati’ by Samarpana Educational and Cultural Centre, Bengaluru.
Currently, she works as the Divisional Head of Data Science at a Bank in Zurich.
