Mysore/Mysuru: The Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel in city held the annual cake-mixing ceremony to mark the joyful beginning of Christmas season, with attendees rolling up their sleeves to mix a medley of fruits, nuts, spices and spirits — the very ingredients that will soon transform into the Hotel’s signature Christmas cake.
The ceremony not only celebrated the art of baking but also symbolised togetherness, abundance and the anticipation of a season filled with warmth and joy.
Cake-mixing is a cherished ritual that dates back centuries, rooted in the harvest season when families preserved fruits and nuts with liquor and spices to prepare the traditional plum cake. This practice carried with it the hope of prosperity and sweetness in the year ahead.
Speaking on the occasion, Vijay Selvaraj, Director of Operations, said, “Christmas is about joy, sharing and celebration. Our cake-mixing ceremony brings together guests, staff and community in a spirit of unity and festivity. It is our way of welcoming the season with gratitude.”
The event concluded with merriment and anticipation, as the mixture was set aside to mature, promising the rich tasty Xmas cake that will be unveiled just in time for the celebrations.
