Railway employees seek fulfillment of demands

Mysore/Mysuru: Seeking fulfilment of their various demands, which chiefly included dropping of privatisation and Corporatisation moves, Railway employees, under the banner of Nairuthya Railway Mazdoor Sangh (NRMS), staged a demonstration in front of the Divisional Railway Manager’s (DRM) office near the City Railway Station here yesterday. 

The demands included filling up of vacancies in safety categories, payment of risk allowance to Points Men working in Major Yards and to other categories, a reduction in beat length of Key Men and Night Patrol Men, opportunities to all category staff in LDCE, implementation of  8-hour roster for Senior Track Maintainers and Gate Keepers, scrapping of NPS and restoration of Old Pension and enhancement of PLB ceiling limit from the present Rs. 7,000 to Rs. 18,000, among others.

Later the protesting employees presented a memorandum containing their charter of demands to the DRM.

NRMS office-bearers Y. Goverdhan, Raviraj Sagar, C. Channabasappa, J.R. Rakesh and others led the protest.
