Railway employees stage demo ahead of Union Budget

Mysore/Mysuru: Opposing the move to privatise the Railways and fulfilment of various demands, the members of South Western Railway Mazdoor Union (Hubballi), Mysuru Division, staged demonstration and observed the day as ‘Call Attention Day’ yesterday in front of the Office of Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) here, ahead of Union Budget presentation by the Finance Minister.

Over sixty Railway employees participated in the protest, shouted slogans and urged the Centre to withdraw its decision to corporatise Railway Production Units, stop privatisation and outsourcing of permanent and perennial jobs. 

They also sought immediate release of three instalments of DA / DR due to the Central Government Employees, withdrawal of NPS as well as restoration of the guaranteed defined pension under CCS Pension Rules. Later, the Union members submitted a memorandum to the Railway officials. 

South Western Railway Mazdoor Union (Hubballi), Mysuru Division, Divisional President S. Somashekar, Secretary P. Shivaprakash, office-bearers  Arthur Fernandes and others took part in the protest condemning the Centre’s move.
