Mysuru: A massive recruitment drive will be conducted by the Railway Ministry to fill up 62,907 vacancies.
More than 12,000 vacancies are earmarked for CCAAs (Course Completed Act Apprentices) trained in Railway Establishments only. 2,293 vacancies of South Western Railway are also included in the notification for erstwhile Group-D. This includes about 450 vacancies for CCAAs trained in Railway Establishments only.
Applicants who completed the apprenticeship course have also been given an age relaxation equal to the period of apprenticeship. The applications are open upto Mar. 31.
Earlier some trained apprentices were directly absorbed in the Railways in emergency situations to meet safety related requirements in exigency of service. However, now, Indian Railways has come out with a policy to ensure a fair, transparent and competitive recruitment process that follows the law and the guidelines laid down by the Supreme Court.
As per the latest policy, it has been decided to give preference to CCAAs trained in Railway Establishments and possessing NAC by reserving 20% of the vacancies in Direct Recruitment in PB1 + GP-1800 (Level 1 of Group-C as per 7th Pay Commission), according to a press release from the Chief Public Relations Officer, SWR, Hubballi.
