Rain lashes city: Downpour to continue

Mysuru – Residents of Mysuru, who were pleasantly surprised with the rain that had lashed on Tuesday, were in for more surprise yesterday night when it rained again, bringing down the night temperature.

It rained heavily in Vijayanagar, Gokulam, Kuvempunagar, Saraswathipuram, Ramakrishnanagar, Bannimantap, Central Business District and surrounding areas at around 10.30 pm.

A huge tree was uprooted on the Kuvempunagar Adichunchanagiri Road opposite RMP Quarters. One more giant tree was uprooted on the Udayaravi Road in Kuvempunagar. The trees were cleared by Mysuru City Corporation’s Abhaya teams.

Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Mysuru has predicted light rain in parts of the region in the next four to five days.

According to authorities of the Organic Farming Research Station, Naganahalli, light rainfall is expected till April 9. According to the Station, Mysuru, Mandya and Chamarajanagar districts will receive 2 mm of rainfall everyday till April 9. They have predicted that day temperatures would be 35°C while night temperature is expected to be between 21 and 22°C.

The relative humidity in the morning hours is expected to be between 79 and 92% while in the afternoon, the humidity is expected to be in the range 24 to 33%. Authorities predict the wind speed would be at four kilometres per hour.
