Mysuru: Members of Karnataka Rajya Akshara Dasoha Naukarara Sangha, District Committee, affiliated to Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) will be staging ‘Raj Bhavan Chalo’ protest on Feb.7 to mount pressure upon the State Coalition Government to fulfil various demands in the State Budget (2019-20) to be presented by Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy on Feb.8.
Informing this to media persons at a press conference held in city yesterday, District Committee President Manjula accused that the Union Government which presented its Budget recently had failed to look after their demands.
She alleged that the successive Government at the Centre and State have been betraying Akshara Dasoha workers without ensuring job security, minimum wages, ESI and other facilities since 16 years. Both the Governments have been combinedly paying Rs.2,600 monthly honorarium for the workers at present.
She said that they have been working for more than six hours daily and they were struggling to eke out their living by paltry honorarium when the prices of essential commodities rising at an alarming rate in the market.
Manjula said as many as 1,18,130 Akshara Dasoha workers have been preparing the meals for 54,43,501 students studying in 54,839 Government -run, aided and other schools across the State and serving them on all working days, but the Government turned blind eye to fulfil their demands, she added.
