Rajya Sangeetha Vidwan Award for Pandit M. Venkatesh Kumar

Mysore/Mysuru: Renowned Hindustani classical vocalist Pandit M. Venkatesh Kumar has been selected for the prestigious Rajya Sangeetha Vidwan Award, presented annually by Department of Kannada & Culture during Mysuru Dasara.

Minister for Kannada and Culture Shivaraj Tangadagi announced the selection this morning. The selection was made by a committee headed by Dr. Y.K. Muddukrishna.

One of the towering figures in Hindustani music, Pt. Venkatesh Kumar is celebrated both nationally and internationally for his exceptional musical contributions.

The award will be conferred by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sept. 22 at 5 pm during the inauguration of Dasara Cultural Programmes in front of the Mysore Palace.

The award includes a cash prize of Rs. 5 lakh, a citation  and a memento.
