Mysuru: Hundreds of school students took out an awareness rally sensitising public on prevention of child marriage, protection of children rights and compulsory education, from Highway Circle to Bal Bhavan at Bannimantap in city on May 14.
They rally was organised by Hinduja Global Solutions (HGS), Magic Bus Foundation of India and Department of Public Instructions as part of the valedictory of Makkala Mela and Summer Camp conducted at Bal Bhavan in city.
Over 300 children selected from 30 different communities studying in various schools across the city were part of the summer camp. Children were taught about collage poster making, painting and drawing, importance of education, prevention of child marriage, children rights-centric issues.
Camp participants also staged street play on prevention of child marriage at the public programme held in the afternoon at Bal Bhavan. An exhibition of children’s achievements during the Summer Camp was also organised on the occasion.
Department of Public Instructions Official Pushpa, BEO Udaykumar, Children Helpline District Co-ordinator Dhanraj, Corporator Reshma Banu and others were present during the programme.
