Mysore/Mysuru: During PM Narendra Modi’s rally in city last evening, he was felicitated with a wooden sculpture depicting Sri Rama, Sita, Lakshmana and Lord Hanuman, along with traditional gifts including a Mysore Peta, silk shawl and Mysore Mallige garland.
The wooden idol, crafted by 60-year-old sculptor Eshwar Prasad near Shankar Mutt in Mysuru, was presented to PM Modi by MLA T.S. Srivatsa.
Srivatsa explained that the decision to gift the statue of Sri Rama was inspired by the recent inauguration of Ram Mandir.
Eshwar Prasad, who has been honing his sculpting skills for over 40 years at his home-cum-shop, meticulously carved the idol from white wood, also known as jungle wood. The Prabhavali (outer frame) of the statue measures 18 inches in height and 22 inches in width.
Additionally, leaders from the BJP-JD(S) alliance presented a portrait of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar to commemorate 133rd birth anniversary of the leader on Apr. 14.
