Ramdas launches ‘Jagate’ campaign against voter list manipulation

Mysuru: Stepping up his campaign against voter list manipulation by the ruling Congress, former Minister S.A. Ramdas on Wednesday launched ‘Jagate’ (Cymbal) campaign to create awareness among the voters on the issue.

Ramdas, who undertook a door-to-door campaign in Booth Nos. 148 & 149 in Ward No.1, Agrahara, with his followers carrying placards, educated the voters about the alleged manipulation.

Speaking on the occasion, Ramdas accused the Congress of targeting traditional BJP voters by illegally deleting their names from the electoral rolls.

He accused KR Congress MLA M.K. Somashekar of misusing his power to ensure the deletion of over 4,600 voters in KR Constituency alone.

Ramdas maintained that most of the deleted voters were from Booth 148 and 149, which has a strong BJP vote-base.

Maintaining that the State Election Commission (SEC) too, had taken note of voter list manipulation, Ramdas said he had launched the campaign for re-inclusion of voters.

He said that the names were deleted illegally for reasons such as death, migration, transfer etc. by creating fake documents.

Corporator B.V. Manjunath, BJP leaders Ramprasad, Hemanth, Jogi Manju and others took part in the campaign.
