Ramzan Fasting: 69 volunteer for UoM Research Study

The Department of Studies in Food Science and Nutrition, University of Mysore, has undertaken a research study on the impact of fasting during Ramzan on metabolic effects, body composition and other-related parameters. Dr. Asna Urooj, Chairperson of the Department, said that 69 healthy volunteers between 18 years and 65 years participated in the study. They had to provide blood samples before the start of the fasting and after its conclusion to arrive at the changes in various parameters such as lipid profile, blood glucose, anti-oxidants, liver and renal function etc. Now, the month of Ramadhan has concluded and the post-fasting blood sampling and body composition is scheduled on Saturday (June 8) between 10 am and 4 pm in DoS in Food Science and Nutrition, Manasagangothri.
