Rangayana Director clarifies

There is no mention of Siddu, DKS names in play: Addanda Cariappa

Mysuru: Following the controversy over the Kannada play ‘Sambashiva Prahasana,’ Rangayana Director Addanda C. Cariappa has denied any wrongdoing on his part.

Speaking to Star of Mysore from Mangaluru this morning, Cariappa said “The names of neither Opposition Leader Siddharamaiah nor of KPCC President D.K. Shivakumar (DKS) were mentioned while staging the play. Moreover, in the copy of the play, second or third reprint, received by the Director of the play, there is no mention of having to take permission or to pay remuneration to stage the play, generally mentioned in some plays.”

‘There are several examples of how Siddharamaiah is being mocked at on social media, but nobody has any objection for that. Why this issue is being made in my absence, when I am on Shivamogga and Mangaluru tours for the staging of the play ‘Tipu Nija Kanasugalu?’ asked Cariappa.

“As my tenure as Rangayana Director has ended on Dec. 31, 2022, a plot is being hatched against me and I will not succumb to that. There is no such attempt to malign anybody,” Cariappa clarified.
