Mysore/Mysuru: Rangayana Director Addanda C. Cariappa met Dr. S.L. Bhyrappa at his residence on Friday and handed over him the theatrical script of his popular novel ‘Parva.’
Dr. Bhyrappa had earlier given his consent to adapt the author’s popular novel ‘Parva’ as a play. Actor Prakash Belawadi, who has created a niche in theatre, will be directing the play. Theatre set will be designed by senior art director H.K. Dwarakanath of Rangayana.
Addanda C. Cariappa, who met Dr. Bhyrappa at his residence, discussed the technical details regarding adapting this novel for the stage. He also gave another copy of the theatrical script of the novel to writer Hanur Krishnamurthy for his perusal and requested him to give his valuable inputs and advice.
“We invited Dr. Bhyrappa to hold a discussion with Rangayana artistes to which he has agreed and has also advised us to invite scholars Shatavadhani R. Ganesh and Lakshmisha Tolpadi for the discussion. Sahitya Bhandara Prakashana has agreed to publish the theatrical script of the novel,” Cariappa said.
“While adapting this novel to the stage, Rangayana will be working on its finer details in keeping with the spirit of original novel. Prakash Belawadi is also trying to keep its essence and not to disturb it in any manner. As this would be a six-hour play with two short intervals, this is going to be a real challenge for Rangayana. We are planning to present this play on stage by February end next year,” he said.
Rangayana Joint Director V.N. Mallikarjunaswamy was also present at the meeting.
