Rangolis add colour to Nada Habba

Mysuru: Mysore Palace premises was adorned with colourful rangolis, with hundreds of women taking part in rangoli competition organised by Mahila Mattu Makkala Dasara Sub-Committee, as part of Dasara here yesterday.

About 118 women had registered for the competition, in which first prize was secured by C. Hemalatha from Ramakrishna Nagar in the city, second prize by Jayashree of Kurubarahalli and third prize by Roopashri from Roopanagar. Parvathi from Kuvempunagar had to be content for consolation prize.

The best of the rangolis drawn and decorated with myriad colours were selected by a three-member jury.

The prizes will be distributed to the winners of the competition during the inauguration of Mahila Mattu Makkala Dasara at J.K. Grounds in the city on Oct. 8.

Earlier, Krishnaraja MLA T.S. Srivatsa inaugurated the Rangoli competition, by symbolically drawing a rangoli.

Joint Director of Administrative Training Institute (ATI) K. Priyadarshini, also the Deputy Special Officer of the Sub-Committee, Deputy Director of Women and Child Development Department B. Basavaraju, Sub-Committee Working President Manjunath, all Child Development Planning Officers (CDPOs) of the district were present.
