Hosts Karnataka were 27 for 1 at lunch on the second day of the 4-day Ranji Trophy match (Elite Group C Match) against Goa being played at SDNR Wadiyar Stadium in Manasagnagothri campus here this afternoon.
Karnataka lost opener Nischal (16 runs) early at the start of their innings. Skipper Mayank Agarwal (11 n.o.) and Devdutt Padikkal (0 n.o.) were at the crease when lunch was called.
Earlier, Visitors Goa, who resumed their innings at overnight score of 228/8, managed to score 321, adding 83 runs in quick time in the morning session today, with Arjun Tendulkar, son of cricketing Icon Sachin Tendulkar, scoring 52 runs in 112 balls. Other significant scorers for Goa were Snehal Kauthankar, who was the top scorer with 83 (193 balls), Heramb Parab, who scored 53 runs (81 balls) and Skipper Darshan Misal, who scored 39 runs (98 balls). The Goans were aided by an 93-run partnership for the ninth wicket between Arjun Tendulkar and Heramb Parab, which eventually turned out into the biggest and also a crucial partnership in Goa’s innings.
For Karnataka, pacers Vijaykumar Vyshak and M. Venkatesh and left-arm Othodox spinner Rohit Kumar took three wickets each, while V. Koushik got one wicket.
