The rare photographs of a White-Throated Kingfisher with a Snake Kill and Spotted Deer feeding two fawns were captured by city lensman G.S. Ravishankar on the outskirts of Mysuru and Kabini Forest recently.
The Kingfisher usually preys on fish and insects. But this bird in the photo has preyed on a snake which is considered rare.
For the other photo of a deer feeding two fawns, he has stated that though it is unnatural for the deer to give birth to two fawns, it is possible that one of the fawn may have lost its mother to a predator and another mother deer is taking care of it or it would be a special case where a Spotted Deer would have given birth to two fawns and taking care of them.
