Rash driving: A cause of concern for Vishwamanava Double Road residents

Sir,

The residents of Vishwamanava Double Road, especially between Dr. Sri Shivakumara Swamiji Circle and Gadadhara Circle, are a worried lot. The road widening that was taken up recently has turned out to be a bane rather than a boon for the locality.

All thanks to rash and negligent driving, residents, who venture out for morning and evening walks, are in constant fear of being hit by speeding vehicles. This apart, constant movement of vehicles with unnecessary blaring of horns throughout the day is also a cause of worry. Residents are forced to have disturbed sleep with most of the vehicles, especially high-end motorbikes, ridden at a high speed.

There is an immediate need for the authorities concerned to initiate measures to put a brake to rash driving on the Double Road before it causes a major damage. The locality is also surrounded by educational institutions and hospitals and with a few irresponsible citizens indulging in such acts, it only creates problems for both students as well as patients.

I would suggest the City Traffic Police to declare the stretch between Dr. Shivakumara Swamiji Circle and Ramakrishna Paramahamsa Circle as ‘Silent Zone’ and install speed breakers or barricades to avoid noise pollution and accidents.
