Rashtrakavi Govinda Pai Award for Prof. A.V. Narasimhamurthy

Mysore/Mysuru: Prof. A.V.Narasimhamurthy, former Head, Department of Ancient History and Archaeology, University of Mysore, will be conferred the prestigious Rashtrakavi Govinda Pai Award-2023 at a programme to take place at Pathrakarthara Bhavan, Thyagaraja Road in city at 12 noon on Aug.14.

The award has been instituted by T. Vimala Pai in association with Rashtrakavi Govinda Pai Samshodhana Kendra, Udupi, Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Mahatma Gandhi Memorial (MGM) College, Udupi, Mysuru District Kannada Sahitya Parishat and Kannada Sahitya Kalakoota, Mysuru.

MGM College Principal Prof.Lakshminarayan Karanth will preside. District Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Maddikere Gopal and Kannada Sahitya Kalakoota President M. Chandrashekar will be present.

Senior writer Belagodu Ramesh Bhat will deliver the felicitation address.

Profile: Prof. A.V. Narasimhamurthy of Mysuru passed his BA (Hons) and MA Degrees with Rank and obtained his Ph.D  from Andhra University. Beginning his career with the Indian Archaeological Department, he later served as a Lecturer at Andhra University for several years.

He joined University of Mysore as a Reader in 1965 and served the University till his retirement. He has written many books and research articles on Numismatics and Indology. He has also guided more than 20 students for their Ph.D degrees. He has won many awards and prizes including Karnataka Rajyotsava Award, Puratatva Ratna Award, Karnataka Sahitya Academy Award  and  Award of Excellence given by  the Archaeology Department.
