Mysore/Mysuru: Additional SP Dr. B.N. Nandini said that everyone should follow the life and literature of Rashtrakavi Kuvempu.
She was speaking after inaugurating Kuvempu Jayanti celebrations organised by University of Mysore (UoM) Vishwa Manava Employees Forum at the University Evening College premises here recently.
Stressing on the need for educating the younger generation on Kuvempu’s aspirations and ideologies, Dr. Nandini observed that only then the society can be transformed and a healthy society can be created.
Former Oriental Research Institute (ORI) Director Prof. S. Shivarajappa said that Kuvempu is like a light of knowledge for the present generation. He is a ‘Rasa Rushi’ who opposed blind beliefs, he said adding that Kuvempu was a mirage of 12th century social reformer Basavanna.
Former University of Mysore Syndicate Member Dr. E.C. Ningaraj Gowda said that Kuvempu was like an epitome of all forms of literature. He was an advocate of true secularism, he said and highlighted the contributions of the Poet Laureate in the growth of Mysore University.
Vijayanagar ACP G.S. Gajendraprasad, Devaraja ACP Shantamallappa, UoM Department of Social Work faculty Prof. H.P. Jyothi and Hassan PG Centre’s Kannada faculty Shankar too spoke.
Mysore Bar Association Secretary S. Umesh, Yuvaraja’s College faculty Chandraiah, Maharaja’s College faculty members Gopalraj, M.B. Suresh and Lokesh, Woman PSI Sushma Lamani and District Kannada Janapada Parishat President Kyatanahalli H. Prakash were felicitated on the occasion.
Senior Journalist Amshi Prasannakumar presided. Forum President R.
